About Me

Kimberly was born in South Korea, and lived there for 14 years until she moved to the United States for the first time, during which she moved to Texas.

Kimberly graduated with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Biochemistry, minored in Business, and earned her Pre-Health Professions Certificate. During her undergraduate years, she served as an Undergraduate Assistant for the Department of Mathematics and a Peer Mentor for the FRI Bioactive Molecules stream, volunteered at the Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin (ASMCA), and led the Alpha Phi Sigma Pre-Health Honor Society as a Volunteer Coordinator.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree, Kimberly worked in a medicinal chemistry laboratory with Dr. Yangmei Li at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. During her time there, she was able to become the first author of her first publication, and is expecting to have additional publications in the near future.

Kimberly is excited to kick-start The Newberry Lab before heading to medical school in the fall.
